Genre: Autobiography Ownership: - Given to sibling

Book cover of Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris I'd had this book a few years, but I don't remember the first time I read it - apparently it was in 2019. I clearly enjoyed it enough to keep then. I didn't this time.

It's all just so mean-spirited I didn't even find it funny. That every protagonist - including the author himself in the autobiographical sections - carries an air of superiority is grating. Yes, it's usually played off as they have no reason to feel so superior, but all that's doing is flipping the framing so aren't you the reader (and the writer) actually the superior one for seeing through such narcissism.

I would have donated it, but my sister said she wanted it.
