2022-02 February Report

I liked when people were posting lists of stuff they'd decluttered. I know the multiple daily lists annoyed some people, but unless there's a real strong objection I intend to keep up my monthly reports.

8 items in (13 total YTD):

• 3 x PS5 game
  My partner bought these, but I'm counting his stuff in the "items out" so I have to count his "items in" for fairness
  
• 1 x paintbrush
  
• 1 x tester paint pot
  These were to paint our house number on our bins
  
• 1 x "none sponge" - because our old one is falling apart, I want to see if this new design is any good
  
• 1 x basket of flower bulbs - another belated Christmas present
  
• 1 x book - second-hand, from a charity table

32 items out (51 total YTD):

• 1 x AA/AAA Battery charger - given away on Freecycle
  
• 4 x AA rechargeable batteries - given away on Freecycle
  Apparently it's prohibited to send batteries through the post unless they are powering an electronic item or in unopened retail packaging, or I'd have tried selling them
  
• 1 x laptop backpack - given away on Freecycle
  
• 1 x bum bag - given away on Freecycle
  
• 1 x blender - given away on Freecycle
  
• 1 x extra bottle for blender - given away on Freecycle
  
• 1 x a very old plastic cup - binned
  
• 1 x broken shower caddy - binned
  
• 9 x magazines - recycled
  That subscription I couldn't cancel. I flicked through them all, but the few articles I was interested in just made me depressed and/or anxious, so I'm no longer bothered by just chucking them
  
• 1 x electric shaver - recycled
  
• 2 x plastic bottles from the blender - recycled
  
• 2 x glass jars for candles - recycled
  
• 1 x home-brew type glass bottle - recycled
  
• 2 x wrong-sized pet gate extension poles - put in neighbour's skip*
  
• 1 x cabinet door - put in neighbour's skip*
  
• 3 x random metal poles that have been in our garden since we moved in - put in neighbour's skip*

*The house next door is being completely gutted/renovated and the owner said we could put some things in the skip if we needed, I didn't just do this without permission.

Other Little Victories

• Finally remembered to put out the bag of (12) dead batteries with the recycling, that'd been hanging around for months
• Replaced the bathroom window handle that broke in early January

Less good was losing some fence panels and a chunk of shed roof in the recent storm, but we still got off lightly there.
