2022-04 April Report
This month all bets were off as far as accumulation goes. I'd love to blame my birthday, or wedding preparations, but it was the other incidental stuff that really did the damage.
I will, however, blame catching covid for not having managed to get more out of the house. I had such great intentions about taking donations places at the end of the month, but obviously can't while I have the plague.
26 items in (50 total YTD):
- 6 x forks - we had far more knives and spoons than we did forks for some reason, now we have more forks than anything else
- 1 x utensil holder - for the draining board, I already love it
- 1 x Switch game - partner's
- 1 x mouse mat - came with the Switch game, but I'm using it
- 1 x book - gift for partner
- 2 x bras - bringing my total to 3 that actually fit
- 1 x dog waste bag dispenser - our existing one has too large a hole, so when the roll starts to dwindle it often falls out. Plus adding it to the poop bag order qualified it for free delivery.
- Birthday presents (10):
- 1 x bamboo lunch box
- 1 x tin (of shortbread biscuits)
- 1 x photo album
- 6 x book
- 1 x metal water bottle
- Wedding stuff (3):
- 1 x pair of shoes
- 2 x wedding rings
9 items out (73 total YTD):
- 2 x old pairs of glasses - posted for recycling
- 1 x pair of shoes - returned for a refund
- 1 x borrowed book - returned to its owner
- 2 x pairs of pants with holes - binned
- 1 x pair of socks with holes - binned
- 1 x plastic comb with broken teeth - binned
- 1 x pint glass - accidentally broken & recycled
Other Little Victories
- Took a bag of expired medicines to the chemist for disposal. We've definitely had fewer colds and the like these past couple of years for how much expired Sudafed we had.
- Our new neighbour has installed us a new fence on our shared boundary, and replaced a bit of crumbling asbestos concrete roofing on our outside toilet (which is a super weird thing to have on a house built in the 60's, but hey ho).
- I finally recycled a bunch of the shoeboxes that have accumulated over the years. We still have three, but they all have stuff in them and one is a "donate" box, so not bad on balance.
- I did add 9 things to a "clothes and shoes" donation bag, and 4 things to the existing donate box for a total of 9 in there too. Hoping I get a chance to take those things somewhere appropriate in May.
